4th of July

4th of July, 2008 and God Bless America!!!

This will be the 4th of July in Redding that there wasn't any freedom festival or fireworks at the Civic Center. Or fireworks at the surrounding areas. Why? Because there was about 150 fires burning in Shasta Cty and no fireman available to man the firework sites and most importantly no one wanted to spark off more fires. These fires were all started on June 21 when Mother Nature decided to give us a lightening storm. We don't have any fires burning now near us but it is smoky and the air quality is not that great. Jer and I had planned to go RVing at the Hat Creek area from July 2-12 in honor of our 19th anniversary but we cancelled that trip out until July 20th now. Hopefully, all will be fine by then.
We did take a ride to that area recently and discovered a great private camp area that was a logging deck at one time. It is just past Eskimo Hill. Taffy loved exploring that day so know she will be a happy camper. She will also be happy as we intend to do some quad riding. Can't wait and it will be a welcome break from all the work around here especially for Jer.
Today we are not doing anything out of the ordinary except maybe watch the celebrations from WA DC on TV!!!! Making Jer's favorite for dinner--tacos. We do have about 6 DVDs to watch so imagine we can see a few of those.
Well, that is about it and just now remembered I never picked up yesterday's mail so guess I will take Taffy and so check out our mailbox.
